Clara Schumann Variations on a theme of Robert Schumann Op 20

"Cristina Ortiz plays a wonderful set of variations Clara Schumann wrote on a theme of her husband Robert.
The work was written in 1853. It consists of the theme and 7 variations of which the last one is extended to lead the piece to an enigmatic, fascinating end.

The picture shows Clara Schumann at age 60 painted by Franz von Lenbach.

It is said to be her favourite portrait of herself."

My imagination can picture no fairer happiness than to continue living for art.
