Painter David X. Young lived and worked in his studio on fifth floor of 821 Sixth Avenue between 1954 and 1960. As a teenager, Young developed a passion for jazz. He was a regular at Boston jazz clubs like the Savoy and the Hi Hat, and he made friends with many musicians. The improvisational energy of jazz inspired his Abstract Expressionist paintings. This gallery represents a selection of Young’s work inspired by the jam sessions at the loft. See more of Young’s art at www.davidxyoung.com.
